Hispanic Heritage Month

Community Cultural Conversations: Overview

Newington Public Schools has an increasingly culturally and racially diverse student body. We believe that our shifting racial, ethnic, and cultural community is an asset to our school community. We want to highlight diverse perspectives on what it means to experience the NPS community.

Throughout the 2022-23 school year we will present a range of voices from our NPS community as well as our network of colleagues and partners. As we highlight identity and cultural diversity, we will be especially attentive to raising voices, experiences, and perspectives that’ve been under told and/or told incompletely.

During each wave story sharing, covering different topics, we will address traditionally commemorative holidays/events alongside ongoing discussions of diversity in education. We have an archived offering to start this year’s conversations, including a discussion centering on the AAPI community. We delighted to follow that with the perspectives on Hispanic heritage in education and in the NPS school community.
