Biography

Mr. Westbrooks has taught in two of Newark’s charter schools for four years. This is his first year working with Newark Public Schools. Although he is a certified English teacher, Mr. Westbrooks regards himself as more of a humanities instructor who combines English literature, social studies and History with reading comprehension and writing skills. His educational philosophy is that literacy primarily functions as a mode of survival and liberation for a people.
