The Violin

The violin is the highest and smallest instrument in the orchestra. Violins can be found in many different genres of music such as Classical, Jazz, Blue Grass, and Folk Music. It is one of the most prominent instruments of the orchestra.

The Viola

The viola may look like a violin, but they are quite different. While the viola can play high like the violin, violas have a beautiful, deep sound. Violas come in many different sizes that can even get up to 18 inches long. The viola is special because it is one of the only instruments uses the alto clef for note reading.

The Cello

The cello is second largest instrument in the strings family. Because the cello is so big, you must sit down to play. The size of the instrument helps to create a deep, rich sound that can be found in many different genres of music such as Classical and even Rock.

The Bass

The bass is the biggest instrument in the strings family and creates the lowest tones in the orchestra. Musicians usually stand or sit on a stool while playing the bass because it is so tall. The bass is one of the most important parts of the orchestra. The bass can also be found in a band ensemble like jazz band or concert band.
