The Advanced Orchestra is an ensemble for students who are looking for new challenges and repertoire. We perform at the North Penn Strings Festival as well as various events throughout the school year. The Advanced Orchestra rehearses every other Monday at 7:15AM at Walton Farm in the Gym. Students who wish to audition for the Advanced Orchestra must have at least one year of orchestra experience.
Students are expected to listen to recordings of their Advanced Orchestra pieces several times each week. Listening to recordings allows students to learn their music faster, understand how the overall piece sounds, and understand how each part fits together within the piece.

***Please let Mrs. Goughan know ASAP if you are unable to attend any of the Advanced Orchestra concerts
It is necessary for all members to attend 100% of the rehearsals with the all necessary materials. Adequate preparation of all orchestra pieces is expected, as well as weekly attendance at scheduled rehearsals, classes during the week, and concerts. Students who receive 6 or more unexcused absences from strings class and/or receive 1 unexcused absences from orchestra rehearsal will not be eligible to perform in the concerts. Unexcused absences include oversleeping, forgetting an instrument, forgetting rehearsal, etc. If there is a conflict with the scheduled class time (ex. student has a test, assembly, etc.), students are responsible for informing me so that we may make up the class at a different time.
The Advanced Orchestra has rehearsal EVERY OTHER MONDAY at 7:15am at Walton Farm Elementary. Students are to arrive promptly at 7:15am in order to get unpacked and tuned.
IF SCHOOL IS CLOSED OR DELAYED DUE TO WEATHER, EARLY MORNING REHEARSAL WILL BE CANCELLED
Students are to bring their instrument, music, and a pencil to EVERY rehearsal
After rehearsal has finished, Walton Farm students will be dismissed from the gym upon the first bell ringing (8:20am). General Nash and York Avenue students will wait with Miss Raffaele in the cafeteria for the buses to arrive to take them back to their home school. Students should eat breakfast before rehearsal and will arrive at school just in time for the opening announcements.
Transportation for each rehearsal must be provided by the parents/guardians; however, arrangements have been made with the school district to transport Nash and York students back to school after each rehearsal. They return to school just in time for the opening announcements.
Concert black and white; black dress pants or skirt, nice white tops (button up, blouse, polo, etc.), dress shoes
Please note that skirts must fall below the knee while sitting.
Black ties are optional.
It is necessary for all members to attend 100% of the rehearsals with all necessary materials due to the limited amount of time for preparation. Adequate preparation of all assigned Advanced Orchestra pieces is expected as well as weekly attendance at scheduled rehearsals, classes during the school day, and concerts. Students who do not prepare their assignments or receive 2 unexcused absences (forgetting an instrument, forgetting rehearsal, oversleeping, etc.) may be excluded from our performances.
If your child cannot attend an Advanced Orchestra rehearsal, please send an email or leave a voicemail with an excuse by their next school day. If a student is absent from school, they will be excused from rehearsal however, I will need to be notified of the absence.
