LIBRARY MISSION STATEMENT

We strive to make our library a welcoming place where students, teachers, and parents can learn, explore, and have fun! Some of our goals, as stated in our district library mission statement (included at the bottom of this page), include:

* to foster the love of reading

* to encourage the pursuit of personal interests through reading

* to support student achievement of curricular goals and objectives

* to empower students to become discriminating users of information

* to provide up-to-date resources in a variety of formats

* to promote academic excellence and instill academic integrity

Most importantly, we seek to inspire students to become lifelong learners and readers!!!

The vision of the North Penn School District libraries is to inspire students to become lifelong learners and readers, and to become responsible users of libraries and information.

Statement of Mission

School libraries are essential to carry out the mission of the North Penn School District. The Library program:

• Supports student achievement of curricular goals and objectives
• Supports a collaborative approach to teaching information literacy skills
• Empowers students to become discriminating users of information by using the skills of problem solving, location, evaluation, and synthesis.
• Provides up-to-date resources in a variety of formats and levels to accommodate a diverse population.
• Encourages the pursuit of personal interests through reading.
• Promotes academic excellence and instills academic integrity.
