This summer I interned at Southwest Cheese Company in Clovis, NM. There I worked in both the safety department and the engineering department on multiple projects. I highly recommend a summer internship if you are able to secure one! As for this year, I am hoping that I will be able to help the new chemical engineering majors by mentoring the Chem E cars for ChE 110. For May 2021, I hope to have a full-time engineering job setup and will be filling out a lot of applications to do so.

This summer I went back to Roswell, NM. During the summer I was working for a groomer. We did cats, dogs and other kinds of animals. I really like working with the animals. I have two dogs that live with me right now, their names are Piper and Sammie. Sammie is a catahula and Piper is a mix of some kind. One of my main goals this year is to try to get an internship!

I didn’t take any classes this summer, but I did have an internship with Nevada Gold Mines! I learned a lot about how metals are extracted and refined from ore. I was given a few projects, my main one being cracking the formula for a trade secret gold-leaching additive. I had some really great mentors and coworkers, and a very honest supervisor who supported me while giving me valuable feedback about how I could improve myself as a researcher and employee. I now have it on my to-do list to take statistics, and maybe even a few programming/CAD classes. It is my goal these next few semesters to get more involved with various clubs like AIChE, despite any complications due to COVID. I am ready to up my extra-curricular game!!

This fall, I will be teaching Instrumentation Lab, assisting with Freshman Design Lab, and Unit Operations Lab. I also inherited Senior Seminar, and will be running that class as well. This summer, I did not get to spend the usual month in the Great Plains chasing storms. Thanks to COVID-19, I was only able to go out for a few days in June. I spent most of my time doing online tutoring, curriculum development, and technical writing.

This summer, I was part of a virtual internship with Intel. I got to help my team with development work such as chem costs, equipment part costs, as well as finding the source of variation in our process by conducting designs of experiments. Least is to say, I am very grateful for taking Dr. Chowdhury's DOE class last semester. :)

This year I am looking forward to helping our NMT ChemE Club host it's first Virtual AICHE Mnt Region Regional Conference! It is going to require a lot of teamwork but I know it is completely possible for us to achieve since we are all ChemEs! I am also excited for this conference, because unlike previous years where students have had to travel, this year, the barrier of traveling will be removed and I am hoping this will enable a lot more people who have not been able to attend the AICHE Conference before, to attend this year.

Additionally, I will be an RA this semester, and I am looking forward to meeting with my residents, trying to recruit them into our club ;) and finding new programs that will be socially distant and fun fo them. Lastly, I am also a senior this year and my fuel and motivation come from the idea of graduating! My main goal this year is definitely to graduate but also to help/guide/inspire the teams I will be a part of this year.

This summer I took a couple of classes at CNM: Intro to Anthropology and Macroeconomics. I really enjoyed them! I'm excited to be taking Microeconomics as well this Fall. I continued working for Dr. McCoy in the Materials Department doing literature searches for the graduate students since undergrads couldn't be on campus. I also picked up my old grocery job as a cashier and supervisor for six weeks; it was nice seeing some old faces and some new ones. I look forward to TAing for the ChE 110 students this Fall! My goal for next summer is to find an internship and hopefully narrow down on what I want to do in the future such as going to grad school, to industry, or to research.
