At St Peters, we are committed to providing every pupil with a high-quality careers education and guidance programme that supports them to make confident and informed decisions about their future.
Our programme is designed to be fully personalised, ensuring that each student’s interests, strengths, and aspirations are at the heart of the support they receive. We aim to inspire and motivate young people to explore the full range of opportunities available to them, both within Sacred Heart and beyond.
We focus on equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence they need to turn their ambitions into reality. Through expert guidance and meaningful experiences, we help pupils understand the pathways open to them and the steps required to achieve their goals.
We also ensure that students receive the right level of support at the right time, including access to additional guidance where needed. Our careers provision is delivered by trained and qualified staff who have up-to-date knowledge of career pathways, further education, apprenticeships, and the local labour market.
At St Peters, we take the responsibility of careers education seriously. We are committed to safeguarding our students’ personal information, which is always treated with care and only shared with consent.
Through this approach, we work in partnership with families to help every young person leave St Peters with ambition, direction, and the confidence to succeed in their chosen pathway.
We support students’ career development in a variety of ways, including:
Careers information and discussions within lessons and assemblies to help students explore options and make informed decisions about their future
A range of inspiring events and activities, including careers fairs and employer encounters
Access to qualified careers advisor through individual meetings, drop-in sessions, learning pathway planning, and results day support
The use of up-to-date IT-based careers resources and programmes to support research into pathways and opportunities
Regular careers information, advice, and updates shared through notice boards, displays, screens, and the school website
Students at St Peters Catholic College can access careers information and guidance in a variety of ways, ensuring support is always available when they need it:
Attending a scheduled appointment or interview in the careers office
Completing an online form to request a meeting with a careers adviser
These different routes ensure that every student has the opportunity to receive personalised advice and support at a time that suits them.
We regularly review the impact and success of our careers programme by tracking the destinations of our Year 11 students as they move on from St Peters. Our aim is to ensure that all students progress successfully into education, employment, or training, with a target of 0% NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training).
