St Peters Catholic College works in partnership with the Careers and Enterprise Company, the national body that supports schools and colleges to deliver high-quality careers education in line with the Department for Education’s Careers Strategy.
As part of our commitment to excellence in careers provision, we use the eight Gatsby Benchmarks as the foundation for planning, delivering, and evaluating our Careers Programme. These benchmarks provide a nationally recognised framework for ensuring all students receive consistent, high-quality careers guidance.
The impact and effectiveness of our provision is regularly reviewed through the use of the Compass+ Careers Benchmark Tool. This allows us to assess our progress against each of the Gatsby Benchmarks and identify further opportunities to strengthen and enhance our offer.
The Gatsby Benchmarks, developed by the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, outline the key elements of effective careers education in schools across England. They are widely recognised as the standard for best practice and ensure that students receive a well-rounded and meaningful careers programme.
The eight Gatsby Benchmarks are:

Objective: Provide students with access to up-to-date information about careers and labor market trends to help them make informed decisions about their future.

Objective: Ensure that career guidance is tailored to the individual needs and aspirations of each student, taking into account their interests, skills, and potential barriers.
