Ms. Pettigrew visits our preschool classroom on a daily basis. She conducts small group activities that target speech and language development through read-aloud stories, finger plays, turn taking games and interactive projects. Students who need individualized therapy are seen in the classroom for session times that align with their IEP goals. Therapy sessions allow the SLP's to work closely with children who might be challenged with their speech/language development which may include articulation, expressive and receptive language.

Ms. Andersen visits our classroom on a weekly basis. She will work with the class in a small group capacity to promote fine motor skills and sensory exploration. Students will work on building their fine motor strength in order to develop their pincer grasp and work towards using a tripod grasp to hold their writing implement. Activities often include manipulating play dough into shapes, using tweezers to move objects from one area to another, ripping paper for projects and starting to use scissors. AM students work on understanding top to bottom strokes while PM students work on letter formations and name writing. Sensory exploration activities might include shaving cream, kinetic sand, finger painting and rice bins. Students might also participate in obstacle courses that involve tunnels, balance beams, bean bag toss and parachute play. Individualized therapy sessions are also provided to students who have this service on their IEP.
