Throughout our school year we cover a wide vareity of classroom themes.
We being our school year in September and work on learning about ourselves. We learn how we are similiar and how we are different. We also learn about how we can be a good friend and how we can make a great classroom community.
October brings a change in season and we begin to learn about all things fall! We explore pumpkins, leaves, apples and even have a little Halloween fun!
In November we learn about concept development with our friend Pete the Cat! We read lots of Pete stories and have fun using our imaginations to create new shoes and interact with buttons. We end our month by talking about what we are thankful for.
December brings us holiday learning! We participate in activities that help us learn about Hanukkah and Christmas.
When the weather turns colder in January, we learn about the change of seasons. We learn about the differences between summer and winter including activities and clothing. We talk a lot about snow, snowmen and keeping warm with hot chocolate.
In February, we learn all about the people in our community. We learn about who helps us in an emergency, who helps us learn, who takes care of our animals and who helps to keep our bodies feeling good.
March is full of learning about the farm! From making muddy pigs and wooly sheep with bubble wrap painting to pretending to milk a cow, we cover lots of animals in this unit.
April points in the direction of story stretching! We pick some fun stories and then focus our activities on them. We retell the story by acting it out and discuss sequencing by using terms like first and last.
The weather is getting warm in May and we begin to learn all about spring! How is our weather changing? What bugs and insects do we see outside? What plants might begin to grow?
June is our final month of learning and this is when we wrap up our year long learning projects.
