Classroom Guidance: All students in grades 5-8 will receive classroom guidance lessons geared towards the Community Standard we will be highlighting each month. Lessons will vary depending on the grade level. All lessons align with the American School Counseling Association Student Competencies as well as the SEL Competencies.
Small Group Counseling: Small group counseling is a great opportunity to dive deeper into topics to further support a select group of students. Groups will vary depending on the need and the topic being addressed. Groups will mostly meet during lunch periods. Both teachers and parents/guardians can refer a student for small group counseling. In addition, lunch groups are open to all students and my door is open during lunch and recess periods for students to stop by and see me during this time.
Individual Counseling: Some students may need individual counseling services. This may be a part of a students individual education plan (IEP) or a student may be referred by a teacher or parent/guardian. This service is offered for six weeks, and at that time if further counseling is needed the family will be provided with a list of outside therapists to seek further support.
High School Preparation: 8th grade is a fun and exciting year as our students prepare for high school! I will be providing information and support to 8th grade students as they navigate high school choices, course selection, and planning for the next step in their educational journey.
