State Testing Information

Ohio’s State Tests:

Currently, all of Ohio’s State Assessments are scheduled to be administered in their respective testing windows. If that information should change, this page will be updated as needed.

Reading Diagnostic Assessment grades K-3:

There are no changes to the Reading Diagnostic assessment requirements for the 2020-2021 school year. All students are required to take a reading diagnostic test at the start of the school year to determine whether he/she is on track for the Third Grade Reading Guarantee. The district uses MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) for this assessment. Please stay tuned as to how the district will administer the MAP assessment during this period of remote teaching and learning.

Third Grade Reading Guarantee:

Under newly enacted legislation for the 2020-2021 school year (Section 18 of House Bill 164 of the 133rd General Assembly), no district school shall retain a student in the third grade who does not meet the promotion score of 683 on the Ohio’s State Test for grade 3 English language arts if the student's principal and reading teacher agree that other evaluations of the student's skills in reading demonstrate the student is academically prepared to be promoted to the fourth grade. This provision applies to students who are in third grade for the 2020-2021 school year.

Students Referred for EL Services:

Students who are referred for English Learner services must participate in the OELPS (Ohio English Language Proficiency Screener). As this is a standardized test, it will not be administered remotely. The EL tutor will make individual arrangements with families for students to test.
