Zoom is very similar to Google Hangouts Meet. Both are videoconferencing tools with audio and video. Here's a comparison of the two that continues to change as the days pass.
Zoom has enabled a meeting room feature by default so only those you allow can get in. There is also a password, but if they use the link, they do not need the password. Best practice would be to email the link to a student or share it on Classroom.
For those looking to set up a free video conferencing during this time (i.e video w/students, talk to a parent etc.) you can go to Zoom at Sign Up Free and create a FREE basic account. Once you create the account you will get a zoom link to use and you can start right away setting up meetings. Zoom has removed the 40 minute time limit on the free account for schools affected by the Coronavirus. The nortonschools.org and nortonpanthers.org accounts have already been approved.
Here’s a presentation on how to use Zoom and Screencastify to record lessons for your students.
Uploading to Google Drive and sharing to Classroom- If you set your Zoom session to be recorded, when it is done, it will ask you where you want to save. It saves 3 files. You want the one named Zoom. Next steps:
Upload this file to Google Drive.
Change the sharing settings so your students have access (anyone at Nortonpanthers.org?). You may not have to change the sharing settings if you share it in Classroom. it may be shared automatically. I haven't tested this yet.
Then in Classroom, find the video via the Drive icon under "Attach."
These videos are taking quite a while to process. So plan in advance.
***See below for a video on how to save your Zoom videos.

Two resources for an online whiteboard. These would allow you to show a math problem or demonstrate something while sharing your screen with others.
