RtI (Response to Intervention) is a schoolwide framework that aims to identify and support children's educational needs through quality core instruction, ongoing progress monitoring, and different tiers of instruction. Students who are identified as requiring additional support in decoding, fluency, or reading comprehension receive both the core classroom ("Tier 1") literacy instruction as well as a Tier 2 intervention focused on their specific area of need.
The WIN ("What I Need") block at Northwood School is a time of day built into every grade level in which students are grouped according to instructional needs. Students work in small groups with classroom teachers or interventionists during this time. The WIN block is when Tier 2 interventions take place.
The RtI Network has an informative website for families to learn more about the RtI Model.
