Summer Reading

This summer, we are partnering with the Chesley Memorial Library to encourage students to explore different book genres. Each week from June 28th-August 9th, the Chesley Memorial Library will be featuring books of a different genre for a variety of ages. Students are encouraged to read a book from each genre (from the library or from home). Students can also enter the library’s raffle when they check out books from the Genre of the Week!

Week 1 (week of June 26): Funny Books

Week 2 (week of July 3): Informational Books

Week 3 (week of July 10): Adventure and Survival Books

Week 4 (week of July 17): Mystery and Suspense Books

Week 5 (week of July 24): Fantasy Books and Fairy Tales

When students have read one or more books from a genre,, they will fill out the Bookmark Award for their favorite book of the genre.

At the end of the summer, students will fill out the Best Book Award for the best book that they read over the summer, of any genre. They will turn in the Bookmark Awards and Best Book Award to their teacher by Friday, September 8. While it is not required that students read books from all five genres, we encourage them to challenge themselves to read as many as they can. Books that are read aloud to them count as well!
