Please continue to follow best practices for creating strong passwords, including:
Your password should be at least 8 characters long. The longer a password is, the better.
Your password should include a mix of upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.
Avoiding using common words or phrases.
Avoid using personal information, such as your name, birthday, or address.
Do not use the same password for all your accounts.
Never share your password with anyone!
Enable two-factor authentication (2FA). (Upcoming for North Warren Staff)
In addition to these best practices, it's also important to be aware of common password scams. For example, hackers may send phishing emails that try to trick you into revealing your passwords or clicking on malicious links. Be careful about what information you share online and be suspicious of any unsolicited emails or messages. If you receive an email that asks for your password, never click any links, enter any information or open any attachments. Instead, mark the email as phishing, screenshot the email, let the Technology Office know and delete the email. Our Technology Office will take the necessary next steps.
We encourage you to reset your password regularly to help protect your account and our network. North Warren's Password Policy will require that you reset your password at least two times per year. A reminder email will be sent to each user letting you know when your password will expire.
Passwords can be reset at any time, without having to wait for your expiration message. This is a new feature that we've implemented to improve security and convenience. We recommend that you reset your password if you think it may have been compromised, or if you simply want to change it to something more secure.
If you are unable to access the online password reset tool, you can still come to the Technology Office Room A119 for assistance. Users may use the following link to change your account:
To ensure the security of your account, passwords can ONLY be changed from North Warren Central School District devices that are located inside our building.
Please do not write down your passwords or keep them on your desk or under your keyboard.
While not required, using a password manager is highly suggested to avoid writing down your passwords. Password managers are encrypted tools that are stored in a secure vault that is protected by a strong encryption algorithm.
