As part of our ongoing commitment to providing you with the necessary tools for your educational journey, we have assigned Chromebooks and chargers to all K-12 grade students. To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of these devices adhering to the following care and maintenance guidelines will help :
General Care:
Handle your Chromebook and charger with care, avoiding any rough or careless handling that may cause damage.
Refrain from dropping, throwing, or mishandling the devices in any way.
Avoid placing heavy objects on top of your Chromebook, as this may result in pressure damage.
Store your Chromebook in a secure location when not in use, protecting it from theft, damage, or unauthorized use.
Transport and Storage:
Ensure your Chromebook is securely closed and properly positioned when transporting it to prevent accidental damage.
Never leave your Chromebook unattended in vehicles, and avoid exposing it to extreme temperatures.
Screen Care:
Clean the screen of your Chromebook using a soft, lint-free cloth or screen cleaning wipes specifically designed for electronic devices.
Refrain from using excessive force or abrasive materials that could scratch or damage the screen.
Avoid touching the screen with sharp objects or writing utensils, as they may cause permanent damage.
Power and Battery Management:
Handle the power adapter and charging cable of your Chromebook with care, avoiding any excessive twisting or bending.
Charge your Chromebook using the provided power adapter and charging cable, and avoid using incompatible chargers or third-party accessories.
Operating Environment:
Use your Chromebook in a clean and dry environment, away from liquids, food, or other substances that may cause damage.
Avoid exposing your Chromebook to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or excessive humidity.
Keep your Chromebook away from magnetic fields, as they can interfere with the device's functionality.
Software and Updates:
Adhere to the institution's guidelines regarding software usage, and refrain from downloading or installing unauthorized applications or files.
Regularly update your Chromebook with the latest software and security patches provided by the institution.
Report any software or system-related issues promptly to the designated technical support personnel.
Personalization and Stickers:
Chromebooks should remain free of any writing, drawing, stickers, labels, or similar, unless applied by staff. Students are allowed to use their own non-permanent stickers or labels to personalize the outside of the Chromebook, as long as they are non-damaging and can be easily removed without leaving any residue. Vinyl or silicone-based stickers are often a popular choice because they can be easily applied and removed without causing damage or leaving residue on the device. Additionally, avoiding stickers or labels in areas where they could interfere with ports, buttons, or cooling vents is advisable to ensure proper functionality.
Reporting Damages or Loss:
Immediately report any damages, malfunctions, or loss of your Chromebook and charger to the Technology Office.
Please understand that failure to comply with these guidelines may result in disciplinary action and potential financial liability for repair or replacement costs..
We greatly appreciate your cooperation in taking good care of your assigned Chromebook and charger. By following these guidelines, you contribute to the longevity of the devices and help create an optimal learning environment for all students.
