CFTH (Care for the Homeless)
Sonali - 8th Grade & Aashna - 3rd Grade
We got the idea for this project because we saw that many people had lost their homes and occupations during the outbreak of COVID 19. So, by seeing the light in this situation, we found it as an opportunity to give back to our community.
Our idea is to create and design a working prototype that is able to dispense care packages quickly and effectively to homeless people. In heavily populated areas such as Paris, Chicago, New York, Barcelona, etc, our machines will dispense care packages for the homeless. These packages can contain a variety of necessary items to help people on the street survive and get help.
In order to reach the homeless, these can be put into position near trash cans, subways, and other public spaces.
Here's how it works.
STEP #1: Person walks up to machine and presses button as it says to on the screen attached. STEP #2: Camera scans face to track who is using these machines, to collect further data on how successful it is, and to see if more than one person needs to receive care packages which includes families. STEP #3: Machine recognizes commands and dispenses care package. STEP #4: Person walks away from the machine and machine resets.
Improve the Child Seat Belt Safety Feature in a Car
Aadhyasri - 4th Grade & Shriyan - 1st Grade
Wearing safety belts is necessary and wearing it correctly saves lives. In some situations, parents may forget to put the baby’s seat safety belt properly or toddlers on few occasions may remove the seat belt because of different reasons. Also, children and teens can easily loosen their seat belts despite of the parents warning to put on seat belts during family trips.
In such situations especially when the parents are driving the car, the seat belt warning lights in the instrument console should either blink or turn on. Messages should appear along with the warning light and a warning signal with beep sound should happen at the same time so that, the warning message reminds the parents that the child’s safety belt is not put on or not wearing it properly.
This feature is not seen in any of the as. Myself and my first-grade brother as a team would like to work on the concept to develop the idea and will be demonstrated.

City X Project: 3D Printing Solutions
Mr. Hartnett's Science Class! - 3rd Grade
In a world of exponential technologies, the next generation must be equipped with the tools to adapt, empathize, collaborate, and innovate. The City X Project aims to prepare children for the world of tomorrow, starting today.
The City X Workshop introduces key 21st century skills, including emotional literacy, empathy, design thinking, creative problem solving, and social literacy using hands-on engagement with 3D printing and modeling technologies. By embedding these learning objectives in the context of a story with elements of gaming, we are able to playfully walk young students through the process of invention. By the end, children ideate, prototype and test to turn their ideas for solving real-world problems into real, physical objects in a matter of days.
