Unit 3 Planetary Science

In our third unit of study, students will investigate Space. By the time students have finished this unit, they should be able to explain the following BIG idea:

• • Earth and the moon move in predictable ways as they orbit around the sun.

  • Earth rotates on a tilted axis and orbits the sun

  • The moon is Earth's natural satellite.

  • Positions of the sun and moon affect Earth

  • Physical forces, such as gravity, affect the movement of all matter on Earth and throughout the universe.
