Unit 1 Earth's History
In our first unit of study, students will learn about Earth's history. By the time the students have finished the unit, they should be able to explain the following BIG ideas:
Modern technology has changed the way we view and map Earth.
Minerals are the basic components of Earth.
Rocks transform into other rocks as they move through the rock cycle.
Rocks, fossils, and other types of natural evidence tell Earth's story.
Society depends on natural resources for energy and materials.
Heat inside Earth and radiation from the sun provide energy for Earth's processes.
Earth has changed over time and continues to change as a result of physical forces.
Below is a copy of our Earth's History Scientist's Notebook. Please check your notebook to make sure that it is complete, especially if you've been absent from school. Please see me if you need any copies of the notes or activities. You should review your notebook regularly and ask questions if you're having trouble understanding certain concepts.
Please complete and return your study guide by 1/15/19. We will review in class and make any corrections needed.
