The Hornline is the largest and most versatile section on the field. It con-sists of Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, Mellophones (for French Horn players), Trombones, Marching Baritones, and Tubas. This section provides melodic and harmonic content, as well as visual movement in the form of marching, choreo-graphy, and characterization.

The Drumline marches on the field with Snare Drums, Tenor Drums, Bass Drums, and Crash Cymbals. The Front Ensemble stands on the front sideline and performs behind stationary pieces of equipment such as the Marimba, Vibraphone, Xylo-phone, Bells, and Electronic Keyboards. Together, the perc-ussion section provides pri-marily rhythmic interest and pulse, with some melodic con-tributions and visual additions.

The Color Guard provides visual interest and variety to the Band. Because they are not playing instruments, the Color Guard members can perform much more complex movements with a variety of equipment and props. The Color Guard wears a special costume that matches the theme of the competition show, and the flags provide a wealth of color to the production.
