The homecoming parade was new to North Polk this year. The parade happened in Polk City at the town square.
The parade started at 2:15 P.M. and the pep rally was at 3:00 P.M. The events lasted about 45 minutes. Mr. Wolf, NPMS assistant principal, said that the parade was created to bring towns together. Businesses can see the parade too.
The high school student council organized the parade and the homecoming theme was AREA 51. The parade was on September 20th, also known as the AREA 51 raid date.
The homecoming parade was a big joy to our school. People were excited to go. The middle school teams loved to give people high fives, especially the little kids.
The NPMS volleyball players wore North Polk colored necklaces. Some of the players gave kids their necklaces. Many different groups walked in the parade holding signs representing their activity and school. This event took a while to plan because of all the people involved.
The North Polk High School Student Council planned and put together the homecoming parade. Also, there was a high school homecoming dance after the high school football game. The game was perfect because we won 39-6.

There were nearly 2,000 people not including parents, but parents were still allowed to go. There were 8 floats and the theme was Area 51. The preparation took three-four weeks between the middle school and high school. The parade was one part of homecoming, the students dressed up for the week. The days were decided by the middle school’s student council.
It took 45 minutes for the parade to start and to end. At 2:15 the parade started and the parade ends at 3:15. Then everyone went to the square for a pep rally. When the parade was over, the students with after school activities went back to school. Adults that used to go here came back for the parade.
Dress up days included PJ day, Twin/Wacky day, Character day, USA day, spirit day. Many students and teachers participated in dress up days.
