Timeline

Fall:

• Freshman Classroom Meetings & Individual Check-Ins

  • Small group meetings to get to know how to utilize your school counselor

  • Check-in with your counselor at the end of semester 1 to review academic performance and your transition to Highlands

• Activity Fair

  • For all new students; last Friday in September

• Freshmen Family Night With Boomerang

  • Chance for parents to meet counselors and learn more about freshman year

• Add/Drop Deadline

  • Deadline to change full-year and first semester electives: Sept. 8 -  Sept. 18, 2026

  • Deadline to drop for academic misplacemen &/or a full year or semester 1 course for a study: Oct. 9, 2026

  • Deadline to drop a 2nd semester course for a study or a different 2nd semester course: October 30, 2026 

Winter:

• Elective Exploration Day

  • -Explore 3 electives you are interested in 

• Curriculum Guide is updated annually in December

• Teachers make recommendations for next year's placement levels

• Individual meetings with your counselor for next year's schedule

Spring/Summer:

• Appeal Deadline: TBD (March 2027)

  • Freshmen are permitted to submit two appeals; however, they may only appeal for ONE AP Course

• Register for the PSAT (see Testing Information for more details)
