First Quarter - August 13, 2018 to October 12, 2018
Monday, August 20 - Students have been assigned a scavenger hunt to discover facts about America. This is an in-class assignment. Students will finish it during class tomorrow.
Thursday, August 23 - Students began work on the events that led up to the American Revolution. They will spend the next few class periods taking notes over the taxes and acts placed upon colonists after the French and Indian War.
Friday, August 31 - I have been absent this week. I apologize for not updating this site. Students completed their notes about the causes / events that led up to the American Revolution. They have a crossword puzzle to complete using the notes. Some students were able to complete it today, while others have until Tuesday to turn it in.
Tuesday, Sept. 4 - We discussed what the students knew about the American Revolution. They have been assigned a video to watch and record answers. They worked on it in class, can work on it tonight and it will be due at the end of class tomorrow. They did have a lot of homework from other classes, so I may give them until the end of the day on Wednesday.
Wednesday, Sept. 5 - Students were given the class period to complete the American Revolution video assignment from Tuesday.
Thursday, Sept. 6 - Geography started today. Sixth grade will be studying North America, South America and Central America. Today students filled out information on a map of North America; countries, capital cities, oceans, bodies of water, directions, and the parts of a map. We will begin with the United States tomorrow. They will create a map key and color the five regions of America.
Monday, Sept. 10 - Students completed map work from Friday in class today. They will begin to study the Northeast Region of the US. There will be a quiz in 2 weeks over the maps they are completing.
Tuesday, Sept. 11 - Students reviewed American Revolution. They will begin taking notes over Chapter 6 - Section 4 tomorrow.
Thursday, Sept. 13 - Student began discussing and taking notes over Chapter 6 - Section 4. We are winding up the American Revolution. We will begin Chapter 7 sometime next week.
Friday, Sept.14 - Completed notes from yesterday over The Victory at Yorktown. Students also completed a physical map of America's northeast region.
Monday, Sept. 17 - Students reviewed the Northeast Region. There will be a quiz over this region on Friday, Sept. 28th. Students also began discussing and taking notes over the Treaty of Paris.
Tuesday, Sept. 18 - Continued notes.
Thursday, Sept. 20 - Students finished 6-4 notes today and were assigned a two-sided worksheet that is due tomorrow. There will be a quiz next week over this section.
Friday, Sept. 21 - Students turned in last night's homework and we reviewed for next Friday's Geography quiz over the Northeast Region. No homework.
Monday, Sept. 24 - There will be a quiz Wednesday over Chapter 6- Section 4. They will be able to use the notes in their binder. We spent today reviewing and learning how to highlight appropriate information. We will continue this tomorrow.
Thursday, Sept. 27 - Geography quiz tomorrow over the Northeast Region. Binders cannot be used on the quiz.
Tuesday, Oct. 9 - Students will finish 7-1 notes this week.
Wednesday, Oct 10 - The Southeast Region was reviewed - there will be a quiz next week. Students also worked on 7-1 notes.
Second Quarter - October 15, 2018 to December 20, 2018
Monday, Oct. 15 - Students reviewed the political and physical aspects of the Southeast Region. There will be a QUIZ on Thursday. No binders can be used on the quiz.
Tuesday, Oct. 16 - Students reviewed the information learned about the Articles of Confederation. Their assignment today is to read a list and determine if the event described is a strength or a weakness of the Articles. This will be due tomorrow. They should also study for Thursday's quiz.
Monday, Oct. 22 - Southeast Region quizzes were returned. Students began map work over the Mid-West Region today. Student should also review 7-1 and the Articles of Confederation notes as there will be a quiz on Wednesday.
Tuesday, Oct. 23 - Students reviewed and highlighted their notes over Chapter 7-Section 1. We did worksheet 89 together as practice for tomorrow's quiz.
Wednesday, Oct. 24 - Students took the quiz over 7-1 today. Grades will be posted tonight.
Monday, Oct. 29 - Students reviewed the political map of the Mid-West Region and created a physical map of the region. Students continued reading, discussing, and taking notes over 7-2.
Monday, Nov. 5 - Students reviewed their notes from chapter 7, section 2. As part of a class discussion they completed a cause and effect graphic organizer about the Constitutional Convention. They will have two assignments and a quiz this week.
Monday, Nov. 26 - I apologize for the lack of information the last few weeks. I will get back on track starting today. Today students were given the Midwest Geography quiz back, it should be in their binder. We reviewed 7-3 by checking the notes from before Thanksgiving break. No homework. There will be several assignments, a quiz and a test within the next 2 weeks.
Tuesday, Nov. 27 - Students have an assignment tonight. They are to read pages 209 to 211 and answer questions over part 3 - The Organization of Government.
Thursday, Nov. 29 - Students reviewed 7-3 Parts I, II, and III. They used their notes to complete an in-class assignment, a crossword puzzle.
Friday, Nov. 30 - Students used class time to complete yesterday's puzzle. It was due at the end of the period.
All grades were updated on TeacherEase at 2:00 today.
Monday, Dec. 10 - Quizzes from Friday were returned to today and these grades are on TeacherEase. We have finished chapter 7 and normally, I would give a test when at this point, but I would like to get started on the federal Constitution unit. There will not be a test over Chapter 7.
Tuesday, Dec. 11 - Students reviewed American Revolution causes and events. They were given an in-class assignment.
Monday, Dec. 17 - Students will have a geography quiz over the Southwest Region tomorrow.
Third Quarter - January 2, 2019 to March 8, 2019
Thursday, Jan. 3 - Students have until next Thursday, the 10th to memorize the Preamble of the Declaration of Independence. They will repeat it to me.
Monday, Jan. 7 - Students corrected, completed or checked their Geography assignment from Friday. Many also took the time to study the Preamble. The due date is Thursday.
Tuesday, Jan. 8 - Students began the Declaration of Independence Unit. We studied the Preamble and moved into the second part concerning the beliefs behind the document.
Wednesday, Jan. 9 - Continued discussion of the "Beliefs" section of the Declaration of Independence.
Wednesday, Jan. 16 - Students finished the Declaration of Independence today and will begin Article I of the Constitution tomorrow.
Friday, Jan. 18 - Students read and discussed the 6 goals of the US Constitution. Notes were taken. No homework. Memorize the Preamble.
Monday, Jan. 21 - No School, MLK Jr. Day
Tuesday, Jan. 22 - No School, Snow Day
Wednesday, Jan. 23 - Students reviewed the states and capitals of the western region of the US and created a map with some landforms of the area. These will be on Friday's QUIZ.
Thursday, Jan. 24 - Lessons were mixed up today and only section 6-1 was given an assignment. It was done in class and they will have time, after tomorrow's quiz, to finish it. Section 6-2 will have the in-class assignment on Friday and if time is needed they can finish it on Monday. Tonight's assignment is to prepare for the Geography quiz.
Thursday, Jan. 31 - Students took the Preamble of the Constitution quiz today and completed work from Tuesday.
Monday, Feb. 11 - The students have completed the USA section of geography and today we moved on to Canada. They started a map and will finish it on Friday.
Tuesday, Feb. 12 - Students completed Article 1 Section 3 notes today. They will have an in-class assignment tomorrow.
Wednesday, Feb. 20 - Students worked on how a bill becomes law located in Article 1, Section 7 of the Constitution. Students also worked on a word search about Canada. No homework.
Fourth Quarter - March 11, 2019 to May 17, 2019
Monday, March 11 - Students worked in groups to complete a study guide over Article I. They will have about 15 minutes tomorrow to finish what is left. This will be their 2nd grade for the fourth quarter.
Tuesday, March 12 - The study guide was graded today. There is a QUIZ Thursday over Canada. Students have maps to study from.
