My name is Leslee West and I teach sixth, seventh, and eighth grade Social Studies. This is my 24th year at North Clay. I have taught 4th, 5th, and 6th grades. I was also the Librarian for a short time.
I hope this site will allow parents and students to check assignments and upcoming school/class events.
If you have a private question please contact me through e-mail at lwest@northclayschools.com and I will return your message as soon as possible.
Sixth Grade
Students will study the events from early civilizations to the American Revolution during the first semester. During the second semester they will study the U.S. Constitution and the Illinois Constitution. Theses two tests are very important. I will notify parents of the specific date as we draw closer to the event. Sixth graders will also study the geography of North America, Central America, and South America.
Seventh Grade
Students will study the first 125 years of America's history. They will study people, places and events from the time of President George Washington to President Howard Taft. Students will also study the geography of Europe, the Middle East, and Antarctica.
Eighth Grade
Students will study American events from President Woodrow Wilson to our newly elected president, Donald Trump. Students will also study the geography of Africa, Australia, and Asia.
My grades are weighted. Assignments are 15% of your child's grade. Quizzes are 35% and Tests are 50% of their grade. I do my best to update student grades on TeacherEase at least twice a week.
I do not give homework. The majority of my assignments will be done in class. The only work your child will have to worry about, outside of class, will be to study for tests or to complete a project.
I DO NOT give extra credit work to boost a student's low grade. I offer extra credit points on various assignments and assessments. I give my students many opportunities to seek my assistance with daily work.
