The Common Application

Over 1,000 colleges use the Common Application as their application for admissions for first-year students, so most students will need to create an account and complete this step.  The Common Application is not difficult, but it does have several sections and can take a little while to fill out.  Please refer to these attached documents as you begin this process:

Creating your Common Application account:

• Go to www.commonapp.org/apply/first-year-students and click on Create an Account (top left hand side of the screen)

• Choose First Year Student and complete the information requested: 

  • DO NOT use your school email account to create your Common App account!!

  • When it asks for your LEGAL NAME, that is your full name..... no nicknames!! If there is another name that you prefer to be called, there is a place to put that in, but your full legal name must go here.
