Most colleges require at least one letter of recommendation from a teacher and many also ask for a letter from your School Counselor. Once you have decided which teachers to ask, please speak to them IN PERSON with your request. If they agree to write you a letter, you will need to put that request in through Naviance so that your teacher(s) can upload their letter directly into your account.
Follow the steps below to request your Teacher Recommendations in Naviance:
Log onto your Naviance account
Select Colleges from the top of the screen
Select Letters of Recommendation (under Apply to Colleges)
From the list that appears, choose the teacher who you have asked for a letter of recommendation
You can either select the specific school(s) that you would like that teacher's letter to be sent to OR select All
Include a brief note to the teacher ("Thank you for agreeing to write a letter of recommendation for me. My first application deadline is November 1st")
Click Submit Request
If any of the schools that you are applying to have requested a letter of recommendation from your School Counselor, please make sure that you speak directly to your Counselor to let them know. Also, we ask that you complete the Student Information for Recommendations and have your parent/guardian complete the Brag Sheet .
