Grading Policy
What can we help you find?
Basics
Not all assignments are graded
Anything that is graded will be identified as such ahead of time
When necessary a rubric will be provided prior to the due date
Unless otherwise noted, students will have until the end of the calendar day to complete an assignment without losing credit
Typically assignments will be returned to students before grades are placed in PowerSchool. This allows the students to review feedback and ask questions
Missing/Late Assignments
Any assignments not turned in by the due date will be graded based upon what is completed at the time of grading.
Every attempt will be made to remind the student to complete the assignment by the due date. These attempts include:
Verbal reminders
A comment in Google Classroom
A comment on the assignment itself when possible
An email
When the grade is entered in PowerSchool a flag will be added to the assignment.
A blue "incomplete" flag will identify something that was started but is not finished
A red "missing" flag will identify an assignment that I am unable to see until it is turned it (a Google Form quiz for example)
In either situation, a student may still complete the assignment by an agreed upon date and it will be regraded. Failure to complete the assignment by the new date will result in the incomplete/missing grade standing as is
Missed Class/Absences
Students who miss class due to absence are expected to check in with Google Classroom for any assignments when they feel they are able to
Students who miss class due to pull out services should check Google Classroom for any assignments they may have missed
If there is a question about what the assignment is or if they should complete it, the student should either leave a private comment on send an email
Students who are absent on the date something is due will receive an "absent" flag in PowerSchool and a new due date will be agreed upon
Typing Club
Students will have two typing tests each trimester.
If a typing test is missed, the student may take it from home by logging into Typing Club using the portal link found in Google Classroom, or take it upon return to school.
In the case of an extended absence or other extenuating circumstance where a student may not be able to type (i.e. medical issue) they will be excused from that test and the other test from that trimester or their day to day typing practice will count as their grade.
For more information on Typing Club please visit the Typing Club page
Ignition (Grade 6 Only)
At the end of each Ignition module, the students will take a 5 question, multiple choice quiz
The students will receive a score of 0, 20, 40, 60, 80, or 100 with feedback after taking the quiz
Students may retake each quiz as many times as they would like to improve their grade until a date about one week before the end of the trimester
The highest attempt will be counted
At the conclusion of the trimester, the highest attempt at each level will be combined into one final grade and entered into PowerSchool
This means that your student's grade will not reflect their Ignition score until the end of the trimester
To see your student's score, please have them log in to their Ignition account and follow the directions outlined here
