We will be using a variety of resources and materials throughout the year. Our curriculum will focus on being able to cite textual evidence, draw inferences, and determine theme. We will examine and analyze a variety of texts. We will study a variety of vocabulary, and our writing will focus on supporting what we write with clear reasons and relevant evidence. Reading and writing on a daily basis is an important anchor for achievement and growth throughout the year.

Voyages in English: To help supplement our writing curriculum, we will be utilizing Loyola’s Voyages in English series. We will store and use the textbook mostly in the classroom; however, it is available to take home if a student needs extra support. Each student has also received a practice workbook. Prentice Hall Literature: The majority of our reading curriculum will focus on selections found in the Literature book. The variety of selections offered within the Prentice Hall series will encourage students to examine carefully and think critically about what is being read.
