The seventh grade Religion curriculum focuses on the Person of Jesus. We will be exploring Jesus throughout the New Testament this year. We will also be learning about Mary and a variety of saints and holy people, as well as exploring the liturgical year. Practicing and incorporating prayer and social justice into our daily lives will also play a major part in helping us to grow in our catholic faith throughout the year.
We will be using Christ Our Life by Loyola Press as our main resource. Some family resources, study guides, and practice activities can be found at: https://www.loyolapress.com/faith-formation/christ-our-life/christ-our-life-2016/parents-and-students/grades-1-8/grades/grade-7 . We will also be using the New American Bible and a variety of other resources as we cover these important topics.
We will be preparing for Confirmation by using Confirmed in the Spirit, also by Loyola Press. We will also integrate Confirmation preparation into our regular Religion curriculum for 7th Grade. Some wonderful resources can be found at: www.loyolapress.com/faith-formation/sacramental-preparation/confirmed-in-the-spirit/parents-and-students#%23 .
Finally, it is important to note that our catholic faith is an integral part of our lives. As such, the topics we cover in Religion will be woven into all aspects of our curriculum. I encourage all of our families to pray together, attend Mass together, and follow through with some discussion at home about what we are covering in class. Please know that you are all in my prayers daily.
