See below for some of the best civic service pathways. These offer professional and leadership development as well as the opportunity to serve in a high-need community. These programs provide a small stipend and offer grants for education after the program is completed.

Apply to any of the following programs. Their application deadlines are often similar to college deadlines and can be highly competitive, so start your research early.

Serve as an educational aide in high-need schools while gaining professional and leadership development. City Year helps to close gaps in high-need schools by supporting students' academic and social-emotional development while also providing schools with the additional capacity to enhance school culture and climate.

Timeline: 1 year program. You will be competing for spots with students who have graduated from college, so complete your application early with your counselor.

Note: You earn a stipend and educational benefits via AmeriCorps (about $20,000 for the year plus $6,000 towards education/loans). 

Stats: 17 Noble alum enrolled or graduated!

Allies serve in full-time apprenticeship positions at local nonprofits, where they create, improve and expand services that address issues including youth development, education, public health, economic development, and the environment. In addition, Allies participate in a leadership development program, engage in community building activities, and receive individual coaching during their apprenticeship.

Timeline: 1 year program. You will be competing for spots with students who have graduated from collebge, so complete your application early with your counselor.

Note: You earn a stipend and educational benefits via AmeriCorps (between $1,300 and $1,800 a month plus $6,000 towards education/loans). 

Stats: 2 Noble alum enrolled or graduated!

AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) members bring passion and perseverance where the need is greatest: to organizations that help eradicate poverty. AmeriCorps VISTA members serve as a catalyst for change, living and working alongside community members to meet our nation’s most pressing challenges and advance local solutions.

Timeline: 1 year program. Positions vary, so search for one that fits your timeline.

AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) is a full-time, team-based residential service program for young people. The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service. NCCC focuses on responding to priorities in the area of natural and other disasters, including disaster preparedness, relief and recovery. 

Timeline: 10 month program. Applications open between January and April for the next year's winter term.

Note: You earn a stipend and educational benefits via AmeriCorps ($6,000 towards education/loans). Members are assigned to regional campuses, located in Aurora, CO; Sacramento, CA; Vinton, IA; and Vicksburg, MS, and Americorps pays for all living expenses.
