Quality Literature

An integral part of Deer Park's reading program is its enriched literature program with emphasis on quality literature. The QL component has been structured to encompass a wider range of fiction and nonfiction books. All students need to read at least one book per week from their sections to fulfill the grade level specific Quality Literature component.

School Wide Program Details:

Students receive a folder with the genre of books listed by quarter.

Students are to read the list of genre and select books of their choice.

Students will log their pages read daily.

The students take a quiz on the book on they have finished reading it.

Students receive a token to add to their necklace when they complete each marking period reading list. Students receive a medal upon successful completion of the folder and begin the silver folder. The goal is to complete the gold folder for the grade level.
