We are very excited to get started on a wonderful second grade year of learning. We believe in teaching students to be independent thinkers and problem-solvers so that they may be successful in school and in life. We have a lot to cover this year in a fairly quick pace, so your child’s attendance is vital to their academic success.

We feel strongly that we need to work together throughout the year to help your child be the best he/she can be, especially since second is such a transitional grade. We will be contacting each of you within the first two to three weeks of school to discuss briefly your child’s behavior, work habits, and adjustments to the rigor of second grade. In October, we will have a formal conference to discuss grades and assessments thus far and see that your child is on track for second grade academic expectations.

We will spend the first few weeks of school reviewing and learning new skills, classroom procedures, getting to know each other, adjusting to our new routines, and assessing academic levels. Our first unit of study will focus on reading strategies, civics (laws, rules, and citizenship).

Breakfast is served daily. It is free to all students.

Below is a classroom schedule for you to view our learning day. We look forward to an exciting year of learning and working with each of you! Please make sure your child is at school by 9:05. School starts at 9:05. Anything after 9:05 is considered tardy.
