We understand that physical education class is not a preferred space for every student. Some students feel uncomfortable, anxious, or self-conscious in the gym, and we work hard to create an environment where all students feel welcomed, respected, and supported.
Everything we do takes into consideration the wide variety of personalities, comfort levels, interests, and abilities that students bring with them each day. In many activities, students are given opportunities to choose between more competitive and more casual groups so they can participate alongside others who match their comfort level.
At the same time, we strongly believe that taking small steps outside of one’s comfort zone can lead to meaningful growth over time. We also believe that learning to be a dependable and supportive member of a team is an important life skill.
We are not looking for superstar athletes in physical education class. We are looking for students who are willing to participate, support others, give honest effort, and continue growing.
Our goal is not perfection — it is progress, involvement, and positive habits.
