Inner Bridge Crossing
(IBC)

About the Program

The Inner Bridge Crossing (IBC) preschool program infuses a developmental approach in a naturalistic setting for students with Autism and developmental delays to ensure that each member of the program is a functional member of a family and the community.  Some of the instructional strategies implemented within the IBC program are based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and include discrete trial training, incidental teaching, activity schedules, group instruction, video modeling, and naturalistic learning.  IBC uses a child-led approach where the teacher follows the student’s lead; the team incorporates a way of communicating with and responding to students and encourages them to do the thinking.  Integrating both ABA and a developmental approach allows the program to follow a continuum by first preparing the students to learn by reinforcing or managing behaviors.  When the students are ready, they are taught new skills in isolation and immediately move toward generalization by using the new skill in a variety of new ways.

Meet the Staff

Mrs. Bowen, classroom teacher at DEO

Hello! I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Bowen and this is my 14th year teaching. I have taught pre-k and first grade special education. This is my first year in New Milford and I am very excited to be your pre-k teacher this year! I love getting to know all my students and watching them grow and mature over the year. One of the best parts of this summer was getting my classroom ready for September! Pre-k is going to be fantastic! I hope you are excited to read new stories, enjoy crafts, and learn through play as well as learn about the world around us. A little about me, I live with my husband Matthew, and our two kids Landon and Ella. My son will be in second grade and my daughter is starting pre-k as well! I am looking forward to meeting all my student’s and getting to know their families as well. If you have any questions I am always here and I want to help your child to achieve their IEP goals and be ready for the following year!

Ms. Marino, classroom teacher at Gibbs

Hi friends! My name is Miss. Marino, and this is my second year of teaching. I decided to become a teacher because I have been working with children since I was 13-years-old. It only made sense for me to become a teacher! My favorite part of being a teacher is seeing the progress students make, as well as getting to know them and their families. For this semester, I am looking forward to implementing our new curriculum, and all that it has to offer! We are going to be focusing on language arts, math, social and life skills in order to achieve IEP goals and develop the skills necessary for Kindergarten!

Ms. Montalvo, classroom teacher at Berkley

Hi! My name is Miss. Montalvo. I am a new Pre- k teacher here in the New Milford IBC program. This is my first year teaching in my own classroom, and my 8th year in a special education classroom setting. I work hands-on with our students helping them develop life, speech, cognitive skills, appropriate behaviors, and provide students with an education that fits their individualized learning capabilities. My job is to work alongside the assistants, social workers assigned to my students, behaviorist, and parents to ensure that each students’ individualized Education plan is implemented into the daily classroom routine. I am compassionate and I am determined, in this field it is important to hold that sense of compassion and patience. Here in New Milford that is what it's all about!
