What a Choral Education Looks Like:

Throughout the course of the school year students will be working towards achieving growth as it relates to our curriculum and classroom goals.

Classroom Needs

• All students are asked to bring a three ringed binder to choir every day. A dedicated choir 1 or 1 ½ inch binder is plenty large enough. Preferred color would be school colors Gold or Blue

• Sings a varied repertoire of songs with proper vocal production

• Sings with instrumental accompaniment

• Composes a short melody with lyrics

• Improvises words within a given pulse

• Sight‐reads short scale‐wise passages of music

• Reads a choral score accurately

• Identifies phrases in music performances

• Develops criteria to evaluate a piece

• Creates and performs original choreography

• Performs choreography from different historical aspects of show music, pop, rock, and jazz
