Courtesy Bus Seats

At times, there are surplus seats on bus routes which can be offered to non-bus-eligible students. Assigning courtesy seating is governed by the Courtesy Seating Protocol. If you would like to be considered for a courtesy seat, please complete the application that is found in the link above. Please note: courtesy seat applications will not be processed until all eligible bus riders have been confirmed and the number of remaining seats can be determined, usually by the end of September.

A Note About Kindergarten Bus Riders

It is an NLESD requirement that a parent/caregiver must be present at the bus to receive Kindergarten students from the bus each afternoon. If a    Kindergarten child does not have an adult waiting for them at their stop, the driver will return the child to school and we will attempt to make contact with the parent to arrange pick up. The child will be safe and in the care of an adult at all times.

Questions About Busing?

Busing matters, including eligibility, route design, and stops, are determined by the Transportation department at NLESD. If you have questions or concerns pertaining to busing, there is an online inquiry form that families can use to make inquiries. The form is accessible here: Avalon Region Public Inquiry Form - Student Transportation. Further information about busing can be found on the district website: https://www.nlschools.ca/studentsfamilies/studenttransportation.jsp and in the Bus Planner.
