Social language is the way in which everyone USES language in social situations. Sometimes known as “Pragmatics”.
Social language is very important for simply getting along with others. For many students, following the “hidden” social rules is very difficult and they need practice. The activities here will give you some activities to give them some extra practice and help to figure out these hidden rules. The website divides Social Language into 5 different areas: Listening, Body Language/Facial Expressions, Conversational Skills, Dealing With Emotions, and Perspective Taking (Understanding how others are thinking and feeling). Click the buttons below for more information and activities in each area.
