At Ringwood Public Schools, we believe that regular communication regarding student progress is essential to a successful learning journey. Our district operates on a trimester schedule, with formal report cards issued three times per year to provide a comprehensive look at your child's academic and social-emotional growth.
Report cards are finalized and posted to the Parent Portal shortly after the conclusion of each trimester:
Trimester 1: September-December
Trimester 2: December-March
Trimester 3: March - June
We use two different grading models to ensure reporting is developmentally appropriate for our students:
Elementary (Grades K–5): Standards-Based Reporting
In the primary and intermediate grades, we use Standards-Based Report Cards. Rather than a single letter grade for a subject, students receive marks based on their progress toward specific learning targets (standards). This provides a clearer picture of which skills your child has mastered and where they may need additional support.
Middle School (Grades 6–8): Traditional Grading
As students transition into Middle School, we move to a Traditional Grading System (A, B, C, D, F). This model helps prepare students for the expectations of high school and provides a cumulative reflection of their performance in each content area, including elective and exploratory courses.
In our effort to be environmentally conscious and provide secure access, all report cards are delivered digitally.
