FASR Workshop 2023

9-13 January 2023

New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ

This event is part of the @HDMIEC RCN Workshop Series

Overview

The Center for Solar Terrestrial Research at the New Jersey institute of Technology will hold the “Microwave Data, Modeling, and Instrumentation” workshop, which will be hosted on the NJIT campus in Newark, NJ, from January 9-13, 2023. This workshop will bring together researchers to discuss the latest scientific advances with data and modeling efforts enabled by current solar radio instruments such as EOVSA, and how next-generation of solar radio facilities such as FASR can best contribute to future research in solar radio astronomy. The first part of the workshop will feature a series of invited lectures and tutorial sessions, which will provide firsthand experience in accessing and processing microwave imaging data produced by the Expanded Owens Valley Solar Array (EOVSA) and in using the GX Simulator 3D data-constrained modeling software, both with EOVSA data and with data produced by other multi-wavelength (microwave, EUV and X-ray) instruments. The second part of the workshop will include invited presentations and open forum discussions aimed at the design and development of the Frequency Agile Solar Radiotelescope (FASR).
