Stargirl is a wonderful girl who was known to be loving and caring. She would always sing happy birthday on birthdays, Wear a long dress, and send cards and gifts! She had a little rat friend who she loved, the rat would even listen and follow directions. She would also always be there to cheer people up if they were sad! Then it was a girl named Hillari' s birthday the next day and she had a request from her:
''Listen up Stargirl... Tomorrow I don't want you to sing to me on my birthday alright!''
She nodded in a polite way. Then during lunch she sang but not in front of Hillari but in front of a boy named Leo, his friend asked Stargirl why she chose to sing in front of him.. her only response was:
''I mean hes pretty cute and she didn't want me to sing to her.''
After that a basketball game was coming up they never won any games before but Stargirl got chosen to be a cheer leader, and they had just started winning as Stargirl cheered on the team but not just her team she also cheered on the other team. Everyone looked at her confused. Everyone in the middle of the game huddled trying to get the ball, But as someone tried to get the ball they tripped over a few hands and broke his ankle, They all looked away for a few seconds talking to friends. Then when they looked back they saw that Stargirl was sitting on a bench with the hurt man on her lap, everyone gasped at the sight they saw, Stargirl was helping an enemy from the other team. Soon enough they immediately invited her into the hot seat. (The hot seat is the popular thing in their school where you stand in front of people sitting called the jury and they start asking you weird/strange questions.) She politely accepted, and they asked her all about the game and more questions. Leo watched her walk out the door when she was done.
Soon enough Leo was done with Stargirl and kept ignoring her. Then, few days went by and then Stargirl got Leo to talk to her but it wasn't what she expected, Leo started to kind of yell at her to be normal and how she didn't care what other people wanted or thought and how she should be a normal girl who doesn't send anything or do anything that other people don't want. He told her that everyone was ignoring them both because of her. But then the next day Stargirl became Susan, and Susan was a normal girl who liked shopping, cheered for one team, and many other NORMAL things a girl would do. He liked the ''new'' girl. But the next day again, Stargirl was back and did the same things. But then it changed for the last time, Stargirl was living somewhere else, Leo talked to one of her greatest friends who showed Leo something. Her work place, it had files filled with people about birthdays, age, houses. There were construction papers everywhere, cards, boxes, paint buckets, and even more, but then his birthday came up and he wasn't expecting anything in till he got a box. He opened it and got a porcupine necktie he collected these. But it was from Stargirl.
This relates to the author because in the book the girl is being who she wants to be and if she doesn't like it she gave it a try and that's what Jerry Spinelli did he does things he wants to. Being himself even if people tell what he can or cant do he will give it a shot and then he will make sure to go back to who he wants to or do what he wants to do if it doesn't work out well just like Stargirl did and then he will keep on moving forward to make more kids and people happy. It also relates because it shows Stargirl doesn't fit in and you don't need to stand in all the time, that's why Stargirl tried to stand in but the next day stood out, Because she didn't want to stand in and be like others she wanted to be different. She also didn't just give up she kept going like Spinelli, Spinelli kept going and writing stories and inspiring people to be themselves.😃❤
