Alumni Story

Anupta Jana, Librarian, Shahid Matangini Hazra Govt. General Degree College For Women, West Bengal (Work Period at NISER Library: 2018-2019)

As a library trainee at Central Library NISER, my experience was invaluable. It provided me with hands-on experience in various aspects of library operations and enhanced my organizational skills. Working alongside knowledgeable professionals (Maharana Sir, Bidyut Sir, Suchismita Madam, and Safatulla Sir) and engaging with diverse resources enriched my understanding of information management. It was a stepping stone toward my career as a lifelong learner and information professional.

Kartikeswar Pradhan, Librarian, Govt. E. T. E. I, Bhajanagar, Odisha (Work Period at NISER Library: 2017-2018)

Central Library of NISER, it's my first step to be a Library professional. For me, NISER Central Library means a peaceful environment, a knowledge warehouse and a resource Centre with supportive kind staffs. Whatever I learned during the period, it helps me to achieve upcoming goals and targets. This Central Library, with using of the latest technology helps to provide and fulfill the needs of new generation knowledge seekers.

Mrutyunjay Das, Junior library Assistant, IIM, Sirmaur  (Work Period at NISER Library: 2021-2022)

I was honored to be trained at NISER Central Library as a library apprentice. The library staff urged trainees to aim higher. The NISER Central Library advises on implementing librarianship and administration theories in real-world circumstances.

I also had the opportunity to work for NISER during the second wave of COVID-19 (2021 batch). During these trying times, Rabindra Sir, Safatulla Sir, and Abinash Bhai supported us and treated us like family. Suchismita Ma'am and Bidyut Sir kept me up to date on SOPs and IT. Later, I worked under the guidance of senior library professional Dr. J.N. Dash. The library-in-charge Mr. Kapil Gupta, and Mr. Prasanna Muduli also played a vital role.

Sunanda Kumar Sahoo, Librarian Grade-III, Central Library, AIIMS Bhubaneswar  (Work Period at NISER Library: 2015-2016)

At Central Library, NISER Bhubaneswar, I had true "hands-on" practical experience in a real employment function, learning the right skills in a real environment. It allows me to expand my professional networks and learn new things. The Librarian Dr. J.N. Dash Sir and other NISER library employees have provided invaluable assistance. Finding the correct balance between work and study was one of the most difficult aspects of being an apprentice, but this training helped me clear my UGC-NET JRF in library science and earn a government position. This apprenticeship provides a solid foundation for furthering one's education, as advancement in this sector frequently necessitates a bachelor's degree.

Shaktidhar Barik, Junior Librarian, F M Autonomous College, Balasore  (Work Period at NISER Library: 2021-2023)

I am glad to share my job experience at the NISER Central Library. A modern-era library with direct user engagement, functioning in separate parts using the Library Management System "KOHA," and integrated with innovative RFID technology is always interesting. Feel free to provide new ideas, opinions, and helpful guidance from employees in all stages of the work process to increase interest in the working process.
