Orchestra camp is a great way to keep kids motivated and improving during the summertime. There are a variety of camps and experiences, all with varying costs. Some are overnight camps, others are day camps; some local, and some are further away.
There are 2 different kinds of camps. Some that are local day camps - meaning that you just go for a certain amount of time during the day and then go home each night. There are also "stay-away" camps, usually at a college campus where you are dropped off at a camp at the start of the week, and spend days doing orchestra stuff and the evenings doing fun activities and you sleep in a dorm room! Both kinds of camps usually end with a concert or performance at the end of the week. You can go solo (pun absolutely intended) or you can go with a friend - usually at a stay-away camp, you can request your friend as your roommate. There are many around the state (and out of state as well!). Here are a few that we know are great! Lots of camps are still updating their information, and we will update this flyer as we get more information about different opportunities!

This is local, in Grapevine. They have other camps that are more for elementary aged kids, so MS kids should look at the Intensive Summer Music Camp that is more geared for older kids that play an instrument.

This is an overnight camp at Lake Murray in Oklahoma. A really fun blend of actual camping in cabins and outdoorsy stuff AND playing your instrument!
Meant more for incoming high school bassists, probably.

Taking private lessons over the summer can also be a good way to keep your skills level up and/or catapult yourself over some of your peers! This list will be updated once we know which teachers are available!
These teachers teach on the Worthington Campus. Taking summer lessons is a great way to get into a teacher's studio, and that gives you priority in the fall for in-school lessons!
