Hello! I'm Mrs. Bell, and I will be starting my 24th year of teaching when we open our doors in the fall of 2024!
Before opening Worthington MS, I opened Wilson MS in 2012, and have spent the last 11 years there. Before that, I taught at Polk MS in Carrollton Farmers Branch.
I was born in Buffalo, NY (GO BILLS!), grew up in Arlington, TX, and went to college at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana on a full scholarship. After graduation, I returned to Texas to teach. Almost all of my teaching experience has been at the middle school level. I LOVE teaching middle school. I love watching them grow and develop from elementary school mindsets to young adult mindsets, and they have a hilarious sense of humor. I also love watching kids fall in love with orchestra. Orchestra kids are simply the BEST kids.
I am passionate about the difference that a quality music education can have on a child’s future. I recognize that only a handful of students will leave our classroom and go on to become full-time musicians or orchestra directors. My hope for all of my students is that they discover a lifelong love for music in my classroom. In orchestra, students learn life lessons about self-discipline, goal setting, cooperative learning, integrity, teamwork, responsibility, commitment to something larger than themselves, and hard work so that they can go out into the world and discover the cure for cancer, invent the latest technologies, and impact their world (and ours) in a positive way. It is my goal to help develop outstanding humans that are also good musicians.
#orchestrakidsaresimplythebest ISN'T just a hashtag. It's the truth!
My husband, Steve Bell, and I were married in January 2015, and between us, we have 4 kids and 2 dogs. Austin is 24 and plays trumpet, Claire is 17 and is in choir and color guard, Brody is 16 and plays trumpet, and Jillian is 14 and pole vaults. Our adorable doggos - Hank and Finley - don't play instruments, but we love them anyway. When I'm not teaching, I love watching our kids do the things they love, traveling anywhere with my amazing husband, kayaking on the lake, Ted Lasso, baking, and reading.
