A broadcast meteorologists, like Shel Winkley, give forecasts to the general public through television, radio, and the Internet. They use graphics software to develop maps and charts that explain their forecasts and report current weather conditions. Meteorologist have received a degree in this field of science. Shel studied meteorology at Texas A&M University.
Weather reporters may give weather updates, but have not been trained in meteorology.
A farmer supervises all steps of crop production including planting, fertilizing and harvesting the fruit, vegetable or grain they grow. There were 2.02 million U.S. farms in 2020 (USDA ERS). The average farm size in 2020 was 444 acres, with 897 million acres of land in farms.
A citrus farmer manages a "grove" of orange, lemon or grapefruit trees. A grove is a " a small wood, orchard, or group of trees."
An aviation meteorologist may advise clients on risks or opportunities caused by weather events and climate change in relations to their travel plans from city to city, or country to country. Leora Tasker is an aviation meteorologist. Leora also studied meteorology at Texas A&M University.
