Solo and Ensemble
This exciting activity is open to any music student, which includes students currently in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. Solo and Ensemble is an individual competition where students learn solos or small group songs (the director will supply the music) on their own or with their private teacher and then perform before a judge. Students may earn a rating and also earn a medal. Outstanding soloists and outstanding ensembles may earn extra recognition.
Region auditions are open to any 7th/8th musician. Students may learn the audition material in class, as a group, and through additional rehearsal time. The directors will recommend which students will compete at the region level. Students will be competing against other students throughout Region 2, which includes Northwest ISD, Lewisville ISD, Denton ISD, and other school districts in the area. Your director will have more specifics about dates and locations. Students earning a place in the Region Choir will have a clinic/concert to showcase their talent.
