Haslet Reads

Reading as a focus

At Haslet Elementary, our mission is to provide all students with a positive culture to meet the diverse needs of every child and to provide engaging experiences that will foster students’ curiosity and character for a lifetime of learning and service. We are committed to developing this positive culture in all areas: socially, emotionally and academically. We know that all areas of learning are linked through reading skills; therefore, we strive to immerse our students in relevant and meaningful reading experiences.

Art & Library are collaborating this month to bring Craft Buddy Day! Kindergarten through fourth grade classes will participate in Make Your Own Craft Buddy the week of Feb. 10-14. The collaboration will include reading the story and providing students with the materials, as well as, time to develop and demonstrate their creative skills.

The story encourages friendship, embracing ourselves and supporting each other. Creative skills will be displayed as students use their imagination and design ideas to manipulate art and recycled materials into a Craft Buddy.
