Low resource studies such as Patient Identification Centre (PIC) studies may not require any specific training.
As a minimum, individuals involved in the delivery of site-based studies at research sites (GP's, nurses, managers, administrative staff) will need to complete our specially designed course in Good Clinical Practice.
All GCP courses have a practical focus, with the key aim that participants know what to do to practice excellent GCP when they return to their workplace to ensure the rights, safety and well-being of patients and the quality of the research data. All NIHR GCP courses are appropriate for people conducting clinical trials, non-clinical trials and other kinds of research.
You can learn more about the GCP program and book on to available course dates here.
The Informed Consent workshop has been designed to enable attendees to embed the core principles of informed consent into their practice. The materials, developed by a group of Lead Nurses throughout the Regional Research Delivery Network (RRDN) aim to provide a foundation upon which to build competence in the informed consent process in a research setting.
We also offer specialised Informed Consent training tailored specifically for children, adults lacking capacity, and diverse communities.
Locally delivered workshops take the form of a combination of presentations, discussions and group activities designed to bring the principles of informed consent into the workplace. To book a place on this course please visit NIHR learn.
This 2-day course is primarily aimed at research delivery staff that have contact with research participants (e.g. research nurses, clinical research practitioners, clinical research assistants etc) and who are new to research posts (in the post for less than 12 months). Those in post for more than 12 months may also attend.
Following this course, participants will have gained an understanding of the management and running of clinical studies and will be able to apply relevant knowledge and skills gained from the course to their working environment and will be able to build upon their experience.
