Your local Agile Research Delivery Team (ARDT)

Our Nurses, Midwives and Allied Health Professionals (NMAHP) and Clinical Research Practitioner (CRP) team support the day to day running and delivery of eligible studies* in practice, for example through obtaining informed consent and trialling interventions with patients, and can help GP practices to develop their research experience.

*Not all studies are eligible for RRDN nurse support in practice.

Research Facilitators and Admin Support Staff

These staff support researchers and clinicians to deliver NIHR portfolio studies to time and target. Their role is to engage with practice managers, GPs, practice nurses, midwives, pharmacists, dentists, etc to promote primary care research in Agile and Wider Care Settings.

They are available for everyday support such as general or study specific queries, training, troubleshooting, advice, study promotion and materials.

They can also deliver talks and/or presentations to patient/public audiences such as Patient and Participation Group (PPG) about research in general or raise awareness about the studies you're currently recruiting to.

Management Support & Other key contacts

Our management team provides leadership and management to the ARDT by ensuring they have the support and resource needed to deliver excellent service. They oversee performance in relation to the targets for research as set by the Department of Health and Social Care and implement strategies to ensure South Central RRDN consistently ranks highly among the network of 12 RRDNs.

Their work involves increasing opportunity for patients to take part in research, creating a region that is attractive to researchers, and building the portfolio of studies offered in South Central RRDN.

GP Research Experts

Our GP Research Experts provide invaluable advice and support to the staff working within the Research Delivery Network. They also take an active role in study design and feasibility with academic and NHS researchers using their detailed knowledge of patient pathways.

Practices that sign up to our funding scheme (Wider Care Settings Funding - please see funding page) are also allocated a GP Research Expert who can act as a mentor, providing valuable hints and tips about how best to organise your team to maximise efficiency when delivering a research study.
