The IWF in use

What can the Integrated Workforce Framework (IWF) be used for?

It is anticipated that application of the IWF will be at personal, management and organisational levels, including:

  • Personal Review and Development Plans

  • Job Descriptions

  • Recruitment

  • Indicative Learning and Development Resources

  • Team Management

  • Career Planning

  • Planning the future workforce

What difference will the Integrated Workforce Framework (IWF) make?

We envisage that the IWF will help with:

  • Recognition of the whole research workforce

  • Consistent description of a diverse workforce

  • Promotion of careers in Research, as roles can be better described

  • Successful recruitment, as it is easier to match an individual to a role

  • Meaningful Personal Reviews as well as Learning and Development plans

We envisage that an individual will be enabled to:

  • identify an entry into a Research Role in the NHS

  • map their career progress and identify opportunities for skill development and movement

The IWF will support the whole workforce to meet emerging research priorities and deliver quality of care. Ultimately the IWF will benefit patients who will be cared for by clinical research teams with the right skill mix. We want to provide the public with the assurance that the diverse research workforce is fit for purpose.
